Wasting, Atrophy, and Debility due to Prolonged Rest

You might think that rest and wealth are the best of life.

Rest quickens the demise of life.

Rest causes wasting of muscles.  The muscles which act as a peripheral  blood pump default when wasted.  The heart (the central blood pump) has to do all the pumping of blood. The heart cannot do it alone forever.

Wonder why heart diseases predominate in wealthy societies?

Central and peripheral blood pumps are physiological entities.  The heart pumps out from its location in the chest up to 120 mmHg pressure of blood flow in the arteries.  But the heart does not suck blood back from the body.

The muscles return the blood to the heart through the veins.  That is the heart does not have to suck the blood to return it to the chest, the muscles do the returning job.

Strong muscles are vital for all sorts of life.  Women, elderly, children are in more need for muscular strengthening than male adults.

Strong muscles promote the circulation which in turn promotes healing.  Thus rest is not always a recipe for healing.
