Training a child gymnast by a mom coach is an 8 hour/ day work for 5 days a week. This 9 years old child has to strengthen each and every muscle in her body to excel in gymnastics.  Her coach is a mother of 3 daughters, all of them grow in this environment.  

Putting a 10 pound plat on the abdomen is a convenient way to deliver direct resistance to the abdominal muscles.
