Personal Trainers

Shopping for a personal trainer is like many difficult issues in the modern society.  Many trainers do not have the educational backgrounds to help the public in planning a long term fitness strategy.  In the above animation you see a trainer teaching a young man how to perform the biceps curls.  This is a completely flawed way of teaching beginners how to get fit.  Wasting this crucial period in that young man's life in exercising individual muscles negatively impacts one's ability to progress in fitness.

The best approach is to educate the trainers on how to set priorities according to the needs of a beginner.  That young man would have to learn first how to stand properly and how to lift from the floor a complete floor-to-above head lifting before isolating muscles.  Individual muscle exercises are only justified when complete lifting indicates a region of weakness.
